Tron’s Liquidity Tsunami: Tether Mints $1B in USDT
Tether Treasury has minted 1 billion USDT on the Tron blockchain as of April 21, 2025, a strategic move to prepare for future issuance demands and chain swaps. This mint—though not yet in circulation—aims to boost liquidity and support DeFi operations across Tron-based platforms. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino confirmed the mint is part of pre-authorized activities and intended to ensure stablecoin availability amid volatile markets. Industry leaders, including Tron founder Justin Sun, highlighted the event as a potential catalyst for increased network usage and trading activity. With over 8 billion USDT minted on Tron in 2025 alone, Tether continues reinforcing its market presence and liquidity management strategy.

The move underscores Tether’s ongoing role in stabilizing crypto markets, with over 8 billion USDT minted on Tron in 2025 to date.
2)
Ethereum's Fork in the Road: Radical Overhaul or Collapse?
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a sweeping upgrade to Ethereum’s core, suggesting the replacement of its long-standing Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) with the RISC-V instruction set architecture by April 2025. This radical shift aims to address growing concerns about Ethereum's scalability, execution speed, and plummeting fee-based revenue, which recently hit a five-year low. As cheaper layer-2 networks cannibalize Ethereum’s user base, Buterin argues only “radical steps” like RISC-V adoption can future-proof the network. While some developers praise the proposal as visionary, others caution that rebuilding the execution layer from scratch may introduce major risks and compatibility issues. With Ethereum’s financial and technical foundation under strain, the blockchain’s survival may hinge on its willingness to evolve swiftly and boldly.
Vitalik Buterin proposes replacing Ethereum’s EVM with RISC-V to fix scalability and efficiency bottlenecks, aiming for implementation by April 2025.
Ethereum faces historic revenue lows as users migrate to cheaper layer-2 solutions, raising concerns about its long-term viability and prompting urgent calls for structural reform.

Crypto Extortion Uncovered: Brazilian Jailhouse Gang Launders Millions in Protection Racket
Brazilian authorities have dismantled a large-scale protection racket operated by inmates who allegedly extorted small business owners and laundered their illicit gains through cryptocurrency. In a coordinated operation dubbed “Operation Timeo,” police seized $45,000 in crypto, froze $2.3 million in related bank accounts, and conducted raids across multiple cities in Rio Grande do Sul. The gang, primarily targeting owners of used car garages, demanded payments under threat of violence and used crypto wallets and shell companies to obscure their financial trails. Investigators believe the network is broader than initially known, and further charges are expected.
Jailed ringleaders ran an extortion and crypto laundering network, targeting auto garage owners across southern Brazil and disguising profits through digital assets and fake businesses.
Police seized $45,000 in crypto and froze $2.3 million in assets, as part of a widening investigation into organized crime operating from inside prison walls.
